Tinubu swears in new ministers, presides over second FEC meeting

President Bola Tinubu has chaired his second Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting and administered the oath of office to the three recently appointed ministers.

The brief swearing-in ceremony occurred at the Presidential Villa’s Council Chamber in Abuja, just before the commencement of the second FEC meeting under President Tinubu’s administration.

The ministers, who had undergone the screening process on October 4, were officially sworn in by President Tinubu. These newly appointed ministers are as follows: Jamila Ibrahim from Kwara State, Balarabe Lawal from Kaduna State, and Ayodele Olawande from Ondo State. They will now join the existing 45 ministers who received approval from the Red Chamber in August.

Their respective portfolios are as follows: Jamila Bio-Ibrahim – Minister of Youths, Ayodele Olawande – Minister of State for Youth, and Balarabe Lawal – Minister of Environment.

Monday’s FEC meeting marks the second gathering since President Tinubu’s inauguration on May 29, following a 48-day break.

After President Tinubu sent a letter to the Senate, the three additional ministers underwent screening and received confirmation on October 4.

President Tinubu administered the oath of office and inaugurated the initial group of 45 ministers. They convened for their first cabinet meeting at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa in Abuja on August 28. During this meeting, President Tinubu urged FEC members, including the ministers, to put in their best effort, emphasizing that the expectations of Nigerians are quite high and that underperformance will not be tolerated.
