President Bola Tinubu will leave Abuja on Sunday, January 26, 2025, for Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to participate in the Africa Heads of State Energy Summit scheduled for January 27–28, 2025.

The summit, jointly hosted by the Tanzanian government, the African Development Bank Group, and the World Bank, is focused on advancing “Mission 300″—an ambitious initiative aimed at providing electricity access to 300 million Africans by 2030.

In Dar es Salaam, leaders from across Africa, private sector stakeholders, development partners, and civil society organizations will convene to strategize on accelerating energy access across the continent. The event will serve as a platform for sharing resources, knowledge, and expertise to address Africa’s energy challenges.

According to a statement by his Special Adviser, Bayo Onanuga, discussions at the summit will center on improving energy access in underserved regions, promoting renewable energy, enhancing energy efficiency, and mobilizing private sector investments.

The summit will open with ministerial-level presentations of national energy strategies, referred to as “compacts,” outlining each country’s approach to achieving universal energy access within five years. On the second day, Heads of State will formally endorse the Dar es Salaam Energy Declaration, establishing a unified roadmap to meet the goals of Mission 300.

President Tinubu will deliver Nigeria’s national statement, reiterating the country’s commitment to achieving universal energy access and highlighting its leadership role in Africa’s energy sector. He will also showcase Nigeria’s clean energy initiatives and its strategy for integrated energy delivery across the continent.

Accompanying the President will be Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, Special Adviser on Energy Olu Verheijen, and other senior government officials.

President Tinubu is expected to return to Abuja after the conclusion of the summit.
