President Bola Tinubu will leave Lagos for Pretoria, South Africa, on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, to witness the inauguration of President Cyril Ramaphosa, who has been re-elected for a second term.

South Africa’s parliament re-elected Ramaphosa as president following a historic coalition agreement between the African National Congress (ANC) and opposition parties. The new government is made up of the ANC, the Democratic Alliance (DA), and many smaller parties.

The ANC lost its majority in the previous election, winning only 159 of 400 seats in the national house.

According to a statement from the State House signed by Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu will leave Nigeria to participate in the ceremony, which marks the beginning of President Ramaphosa’s new term. After the inauguration, the Nigerian President will return to Nigeria.
