Tinubu visits Nasarawa to commission projects

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived on an official visit to inaugurate major infrastructure projects completed under Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration.

The visit brought the city to a standstill, as both public and private schools closed, keeping students at home, despite the absence of any formal public holiday declared by the state government.

Additionally, many civil servants and business owners stayed away from their daily routines, leading to unusually quiet streets and widespread closure of shops throughout the city.

Ahead of the president’s arrival, massive crowds of residents, including schoolchildren and political supporters, lined the major roads, waving banners and chanting slogans in support of both President Tinubu and Governor Sule.

As of press time, the president had not yet landed in Lafia but final preparations were ongoing at key venues.

The day’s weather, unusually cool and overcast, provided unexpected comfort to the crowds braving long hours of waiting under heavy security presence.

Vehicular movement into and within Lafia was significantly restricted as part of heightened security measures.

Several commercial motorcyclists who attempted to bypass blocked roads were reportedly harassed or forcefully dispersed by security personnel manning the restricted zones.

President Tinubu’s visit is widely regarded as a politically strategic moment for Nasarawa State, where he is expected to unveil and inaugurate multiple state-funded infrastructure projects.

The trip also signals ongoing federal-state cooperation on development goals, particularly with the recent sighting of the North Central Development Commission Headquarters in Lafia.

National Chairman of the APC, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, and former Nasarawa governors, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, and former APC chairman, Adamu Abdullahi will join Gover, Sule and other dignitaries in welcoming President Bola Tinubu to Nasarawa State on his working visit to commission key infrastructure projects.
