The special adviser to President Bola Tinubu on policy communication, Daniel Bwala, has said former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar will again be defeated in the 2027 presidential election.
Bwala was responding to comments made by Abubakar during an appearance on Arise TV, where the former vice-president stated that the next election would be his final attempt at the presidency.
Abubakar, who has contested multiple times, also expressed confidence in the growing opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), insisting it could unseat Tinubu.
Reacting in a post on X, Bwala — a former aide to Abubakar — described the ADC as a group of dissatisfied leaders without a solid base.
He suggested that Abubakar is likely to emerge as the coalition’s presidential candidate but maintained that Tinubu would defeat him again, as happened in 2023 despite his political backing at the time.
“My former boss @atiku said ‘with a coalition candidate, President Tinubu @officialABAT is dead on arrival. Lol,” Bwala wrote.
“But we know you are the coalition candidate YET (no vex sir), he defeated you in 2023 when you had governors, states, and structures. These governors, states and structures are with him.
“With a coalition of aggrieved ‘STATELESS’ leaders, I doubt if President Tinubu would bother to check the scoreboard on the day.”
