Tinubu withdraws nomination of 24-year-old Imam Kashim as FERMA Board Chairman

President Bola Tinubu has withdrawn his nomination of Engr. Imam Kashim Imam as Chairman of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency’s (FERMA) Board of Directors.

Imam, 24, was appointed by the President on October 13 for a “renewable term of four (4) years, in accordance with Section 2(3) of the FERMA Amendment Act, 2007.”

Many people were concerned about his appointment, claiming he lacked the necessary experience.

Following the uproar, presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, said Thursday that the withdrawal of the nomination is with immediate effect.

Although no reason was given by the presidency for the decision, Ngelale said all other appointments to the Board and Executive Management team of FERMA are not affected by this directive.
