Tinubu’s planned Cabinet reshuffle is about ‘job for the boys,’- Galadima

Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has dismissed the significance of President Bola Tinubu’s planned cabinet reshuffle, stating that it will not address the more pressing issues facing Nigerians.

Last week, the presidency indicated that Tinubu would soon reshuffle his cabinet, but Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, did not provide a specific timeline. “The President has expressed his desire to reshuffle his cabinet and will do it. I don’t know whether he wants to do it before October 1, but he will surely do it,” Onanuga told reporters in Abuja.

However, Galadima argued that the reshuffle is irrelevant to the real concerns of the Nigerian people. “This planned cabinet reshuffle has nothing to do with me or any other Nigerian. What truly matters is reducing the harsh living conditions, and the responsibility for that lies squarely with one man—President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Galadima said during an interview on Channels Television’s *Politics Today*. “No reshuffle can make a difference if the team is just ‘jobs for the boys.'”

There have been criticisms of underperformance among some ministers, with speculation that this may be the reason behind the reshuffle. Galadima, however, rejected this claim, insisting that Tinubu must take full responsibility for the performance of his cabinet. “Any president or governor is responsible for their cabinet’s performance,” he stated.

The former All Progressives Congress (APC) member also accused some of Tinubu’s appointees of prioritizing personal gain over service to the nation. “He should be told that some of his appointees are more focused on their own pockets than on delivering results,” Galadima remarked.

While Galadima initially had high expectations for Tinubu, he expressed disappointment in the president’s leadership so far. “I expected him to do better than this, to hit the ground running,” he said, urging Tinubu to address Nigeria’s foreign exchange crisis, which has led to a significant decline in the value of the naira.
