Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda is a new dawn for Nigeria – Wike

Mr. Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has urged Nigerians to consider the avenue of dialogue in addressing the various challenges facing the country.

Wike made these remarks during a Public Lecture/Special Jummu’a Prayer held in Abuja as part of the events commemorating Nigeria’s 63rd Independence.

Represented by Mr. Danlami Ihayyo, the Mandate Secretary of the Education Secretariat in the FCT, the Minister acknowledged the numerous challenges Nigeria has faced since gaining independence. However, he highlighted that President Bola Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda signifies a fresh start for the nation.

He emphasized that the 63rd anniversary symbolizes a new chapter for the country, aligning with Tinubu’s vision.

As the guest speaker, Wike emphasized the importance of aligning with this agenda to tackle the socio-economic challenges facing the nation.

Assessing the topic as appropriate, the minister stated, “It underscores the importance of addressing the socio-economic challenges our nation faces.

“And, hopefully, it would present a new perspective and a renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu.”

“Nigeria is still waxing strong in terms of successes recorded across all sectors of the economy, despite numerous plights.”

The minister acknowledged that Nigeria faces persistent challenges, such as poverty, unemployment, inadequate infrastructure, and insecurity. He encouraged Nigerians to see these challenges as opportunities to revitalize the country and improve the lives of its citizens.

He also pledged to work with other stakeholders to promote harmony and achieve the founding fathers’ vision for Nigeria.

“Here in the FCT, we will continue to work hard at promoting national unity, cohesion, and tolerance in line with the vision of our founding fathers.”

He also extended his appreciation to the National Council of Islamic Affairs for selecting this theme for discussion. He noted that both the council and Islam as a whole have played crucial roles in preserving Nigeria’s unity.

“Islamic principles have always played a significant role in our society not only through righteousness but also towards compassion and justice, the value of social justice and charity.”

“These are models to address our current socio-economic challenges.”

“These values remind us of the importance of caring for the less fortunate and working towards a more enviable society,” Wike said.
