A member of the Zazzau Emirate Council in Kaduna State, Alhaji Rilwan Pate, collapsed and died while attending an event in Zaria Local Government Area.
Until his passing, he was responsible for health matters within the Zazzau Emirate Council.
The tragic incident occurred on Thursday, while he was attending the event alongside the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Nuhu Bamalli.
Alhaji Pate, who held the title of Sarkin Yakin Zazzau, suddenly collapsed and was rushed to Gambo Sawaba General Hospital in Zaria, where he was pronounced dead.
Zazzau Emirate Mourns a Great Loss
In a statement issued by the Emirate’s Media and Publicity Officer, Abdullahi Kwarbai, the Zazzau Emirate Council expressed deep sorrow over his passing, describing it as a significant loss.
“It is with great sadness that the Zazzau Emirate Council announces the passing of Sarkin Yakin Zazzau, Alhaji Rilwan Yahaya Pate, a dedicated member of the Council.”
The Emir of Zazzau, Nuhu Bamalli, extended his condolences to the bereaved family, describing the death as “the will of Allah.”
He praised the late Alhaji Pate for his hard work, dedication, and deep religious commitment, stating that his absence would be profoundly felt.
The deceased has been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.
