Traffic worsens as flood hits Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

On Monday, flooding hit the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway’s secretariat area, exacerbating the already heavy traffic there.

The bottleneck extended from the inundated secretariat area to the expressway’s Long Bridge section. Vehicles were having a difficult time navigating the flood as our correspondent drove by the road. In response, drivers, passengers, and pedestrians complained about the condition of the highway.

There is a traffic jam since the road had to be narrowed for repairs while Julius Berger was rebuilding it.

According to Julius Berger’s website, the repair will take 30 months and entail expanding the road, ten pedestrian bridges, and two flyovers.

The company is responsible for the 43.6 km section of the expressway from Lagos to Sagamu.
