Trailer kills woman, injures four in Anambra crash
A middle-aged woman lost her life while four others sustained varying degrees of injury in a fatal accident along Ekwulobia-Ufuma road, Anambra State.
The crash which occurred Friday around 4.30pm involved a Mercedes 911 and a tricycle.
According to an eyewitness, the truck driver was on top speed when it lost control and rammed into the tricycle, killing the woman and injuring other passengers on board.
Confirming the incident, Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Adeoye Irelewuyi attributed the cause of the crash to excessive speed.
He commiserated with the deceased family, and wished the injured victims quick recovery, just as he warned motorists to desist from excessive speed and maintain safe speed limits.
He said, “A Fatal Road traffic crash Occurred at Ufuma by Ekwulobia-Ufuma Road today, 7th January 2022. At about 14:30hours.
“The crash was between two vehicles: an unidentified driver of a custom Mercedes 911 with registration number: XF814AWK and unidentified driver of a yellow Tricycle with registration number: NNK313QL.
“Five persons comprising two male adults, and three female adults were involved in the crash. Two male adults and two female adults were injured while 1 female adult.(tricycle passenger) was killed.
“The injured victims were rushed to Queenies Hospital Ufuma were one female adult was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. The corpse of the dead victim was deposited at Ajali mortuary, by FRSC rescue team.
“The FRSC rescue team managed traffic and cleared obstruction caused. The vehicles were handed over to Ajali Police Division.”
