A Nigerian mother has stirred reactions on social media after calling her 16-year-old daughter’s boyfriend and firmly cautioning him to keep his distance from her child.
The phone conversation was shared on TikTok by the woman’s elder daughter, identified as @amaka57740, and quickly gained widespread attention online.
In the viral video, the teenage boy—who initially did not realise he was speaking with his girlfriend’s mother—confirmed that the girl had already told him her age.
The mother, however, warned him to stay away so her daughter could concentrate on preparing for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) examinations.
“Allow Joy to write her WAEC safely. Allow Joy to focus on her education. I take God beg you. This is last warning I’m going to give you again,” she said.
The clip has since attracted more than 180,000 likes, with TikTok users flooding the comments section to share diverse reactions and opinions.
Some praised the mother for protecting her daughter, while others criticised her actions, saying she interfered with the girl’s privacy.
