Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has revealed that he had planned to appoint the late veteran actor, Alhaji Taiwo Hassan Ogogo, as his Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism if he becomes Governor of Ogun State.

Adeola made the disclosure while paying a condolence visit to the family of the late actor at his country home in Ilaro, Ogun State.

The senator described Ogogo as a prominent figure whose contributions to Yoruba culture and the entertainment industry made him deserving of a significant role in government.

According to Adeola, his proposed appointment would have carried full cabinet rank, reflecting the importance he attached to Ogogo’s knowledge and experience in culture and tourism.

“I had already planned to appoint Ogogo as my Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism with full cabinet rank if I am eventually elected as the Governor of Ogun State,” Adeola said.

The lawmaker expressed sadness that the plan would no longer come to fruition following Ogogo’s death, while commiserating with the actor’s family and loved ones.

Ogogo, a respected figure in the Yoruba film industry, was widely recognised for his decades-long contribution to Nigerian entertainment and the promotion of Yoruba culture.
