Social media has been buzzing following remarks by Hon. Prince Saturday Iyoha, the newly sworn-in chairman of Esan North East Local Government Area in Edo State, whose press remarks after being sworn in by Governor Monday Okpebholo sparked fierce online debates.
While critics pointed out awkward delivery and questioned competency, defenders cited first-day jitters and grassroots dedication, creating a sharp divide across platforms.

Ose Anenih, CPM (@ose_anenih): When I contested for the PDP reps ticket in 2022, I met Saturday. He’s as grassroots as they come. Known then as the Iron Vice, he had served as LGA Vice Chairman under the PDP, and was already lobbying to become chairman. What Saturday might lack in diction, he makes up for in dedication to the local community. And he has leaders who can ‘pull his ears’ if he misbehaves. I’m happy for the young man. He has been given the chance to move the local government forward. I hope he remembers his plans for the community, and doesn’t set 2017’s electoral outcomes as the measure by which he judges himself.
