[TRENDING VIDEO] Netizens react as lady reveals why she ran away from boyfriend who funded her business
Social media has been buzzing after a video surfaced online from Harvesters International Christian Centre, where a lady shared her relationship experiences with Pastor Bolaji Idowu.
She revealed how her ex-boyfriend, a farmer, helped her establish her current business but she eventually abandoned the relationship because she considered him stingy due to his strict financial calculations and accountability. She stated that she prefers a man who gives her money without questions whenever she asks.
When the congregation reacted with shouts of “Men Dey,” Pastor Bolaji dramatically dusted his shoes and abruptly ended the service, sparking intense online discussions about financial entitlement, church culture, and relationship expectations.
In part she said, “I dated a farmer. he was a doctor. And then I just left my previous relationship. And that guy was like, he was everything. He gave me everything. He even wanted me to work.
So I met the farmer. The farmer asked me, “What are you doing?” I told him, “Okay, I’m into aesthetics, blah blah.” I told him. He said, “This, so how much do you make in a week?” I told him. He said, “That way you’re not doing any work.”
So this guy literally helped me. The business I’m doing now, he literally helped me start up this business. But why I ran away was because I thought he was stingy. I swear, I hate stingy men.
So I thought he was stingy and then because he’s asking money, he will do calculation for me. He wants to know where his money is going into, and would tell him how to go and buy goods. He will help me calculate, calculate, calculate, and I got tired.
Because this time I wanted to go and see his family. He’s there, calculate for me the dress I wear, how much it will cost, the cost to make the dress and everything. If I want to drive his car, he will check the fuel. It was too much. So one day I ran away.
I talked to my uncle about it. I said, “This guy, finally run this relationship.” Then I was happy. I thought maybe it was a good thing for me that I left the relationship.
And my uncle said, “Someone that can help you calculate, know your profits from your capital, you ran away from that guy?” I said yes. I told my uncle in details, this is what he was doing, that I needed somebody that will not ask me what I needed money for, that he needed me out. I needed somebody that when I need money, I’ll tell him two months, when I need the money three months before. I need somebody that if I just tell you I need money today, today, you will give me that money today, today. And she was not like that.
So I was scared and I ran away. But now I’m seeing it because I’m still looking for that my former boyfriend. I have not found him.

Here are reactions to the story:
Climaxx (@climaxx_empire): I love how they all think they’ll marry an Odogwu. You can’t advise such people. life has a way of humbling them.
Mr_Factuality (@mr_factual…): See how all of them dey shout men dey, you’ll almost think Nigeria is not one of the poorest countries in the world. It also shows how dysfunctional our society has become. When they say ‘Men Dey’, they are either referring to rich married men, fraudsters or politicians. They know no man earning legitimately would just be throwing cash around without accountability. You can tell the person who helped her set up the business understands business principles and financial discipline – but no, she doesn’t want that. She wants the one who throws cash around, no questions, no accountability. Thing is, out of the thousands of single ladies there shouting men dey maybe only 0.01% will eventually land that type of man. The rest will be at Shiloh 2026, Redemption Camp and Hallelujah challenge dressing like their miracle, while looking to share their fellow woman’s husband as a side hen. We’ll be there
Chigozie Bashua (@chigo…): The farmer should go for thanksgiving because God really delivered him from such an unintelligent woman. You want a man who makes money legitimately not to ask you what you need the money for?? Like, does he pluck money from a tree? They are all shouting men dey, very horrible mindset. If a huge number of his followers have this mentality, his members need a paradigm shift and he needs to teach them about value systems. She didn’t even value his work, she intentionally told everyone he is a farmer. And why does she even feel entitled to someone else’s money? I am vexed, unintelligent people can be really upsetting
Ayoola (@AreYourOrLah): Men dey… Menopause dey.
Fake News Buster (@SONof…): For those of you thinking you will go to church to select a wife. These are the women you will meet in church, goodluck to you .
TheStandard (@KolohMofe): Men, never forget this lesson o. Even Church girls, na money all of them dey find
(^^) (@jfleshcrown): She talks about another person’s money like the person owe her generation. This isn’t funny, men should just have it at the back of their mind, majority of these cankerworms are only okay for sex, nothing else. If you plan to have a child with them, they will give you a bastard as a child. Don’t have it at the back of your mind “there’s still a wife”, the earlier you realize there isn’t one, the better you save your life from dying young. And she’s speaking with so much confidence. So disgusting
OyeniyiSB (@SBOyeniyi): You hear their reply? “Men dey”Men take care of yourself o , olorun a WA pelu e .
Chukwudi Kingsley (@chukwudikings17): This is another way to identify foolish believers. Your pastor is right in front of you, offering you godly counsel, yet you refuse to take his words seriously. Sadly, this reveals a concerning reality: many people come to church not to receive the Word of God and be transformed by it, but simply for the vibes, entertainment, and social experience. It is a serious concern when a pastor speaks the truth to his congregation, yet the people refuse to listen or take his counsel to heart. However, the pastor is wise to demonstrate this act, because it serves as a testimony against those who deliberately refuse to heed godly counsel. Church is not just a place to gather; it is a place to hear, learn, grow, and be transformed by the Word of God. Don’t just be a churchgoer. Be a doer of the Word! (James 1:22) Blessed!
Toff (@TheToff_): I am about to cast a very important way the female brain operates. “The Female Recency Theory” A woman’s appreciation of a man’s gestures is inversely proportional to how long ago he made them. If you had to choose between starting a business for a woman and giving her gifts randomly over time, go for the latter. Women don’t know how to hold on to the emotional gratification of things you did a long time ago. They’re often more influenced by recent experiences. For instance, if you set up a business for her with ₦3 million in 2020, but from then until 2026, you suddenly became stingy, she might end up resenting you. You’d probably be better off spreading that ₦3 million across six years, consistently doing thoughtful things for her along the way. She’ll love you more for that. This is how 90% of them think.
$€¥I (@seyitomas1): In a men’s gathering abroad one evening, one chap said all Nigerians should be given an opportunity to see the shege abroad: a system of ‘no work, no food, no housing’. He, infact said, ‘save for the insecurity, I support the APC shege’ If the gospels don’t teach hardwork, humility and being a builder, what else will? Preying on others’ income is destructive!
£vanesc€ (@evanesce_01): American version sef dey. Ladies ehn
Olusegun Adepoju – RCI… (@…): If these ladies shouting “Men dey” are regular members of your Church, then the Church must also accept some responsibility for the mindset and values being displayed by the congregation. If these are the sheep you have been shepherding for years, then it is time to re-examine the quality of discipleship and teaching taking place in your Church. Not just dusting your feet. The Church should raise godly men and women who seek God’s guidance in choosing a life partner, rather than those who make wealth and material possessions the deciding factors in marriage. I would excuse the Church if these individuals were mere visitors. However, if they are regular members of the church, then there is a serious need for genuine discipleship and spiritual growth.
Signal 🌄 (@Chidiugoo): A man helped you to establish a business and you still thought that he was stingy. And they are all laughing at her foolishness. They hate unaccountability but wants to eat their cake and still have it.
