[TRENDING VIDEO] Netizens react as Oshiomhole challenges Peter Obi over Anambra’s allocation records

On the SYMFONI podcast Naija Unfiltered, former Edo Governor Oshiomhole questioned Peter Obi’s record during his 2006–2014 tenure as Anambra governor. He argued that federal allocations were paid in naira and disputed claims that Obi avoided borrowing and did not own a private jet.

Obi’s supporters responded by citing Abia Governor Alex Otti’s advice to convert funds into dollars to protect their value amid fluctuations in the naira. Oshiomhole said he does not regard Obi as an enemy, noting that both had faced pressure from the federal government. The exchange has renewed scrutiny of past governance as fact-checks revisit claims about debt and savings.

As CEO of the bank that handled the conversion, he told a sitting governor to move public funds into dollars and bank instruments (including his own bank’s tier-2 capital). That’s not “safe-keeping” it’s a banker protecting his own balance sheet.
