Social media has been awash with reactions following an incident at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra State, where a lecturer was reportedly assaulted by students after a female student allegedly accused him of sexual misconduct.

The incident reportedly occurred on August 15, 2026, at the university’s Faculty of Arts, involving a lecturer in the Department of Chinese Studies.

According to reports circulating online, the lecturer allegedly caught a student cheating during an examination and was accused of demanding sexual favours in exchange for leniency.

The student reportedly alerted others about the alleged encounter and later lured the lecturer into removing his clothes in his office before escaping.

Students subsequently reportedly intercepted the lecturer around the Chike Okoli Centre, where they assaulted and stripped him. Videos showing the incident have since circulated widely on social media.

The circumstances surrounding the alleged sexual misconduct remain subject to investigation, and the claims against the lecturer have not been independently established.

Here are some of the reactions:

Tom Luke (@TomLuke5111): And it could be a false accusation

Chukwunonso Chidolue (@ChukwunonsoC): It’s a pity! Look at a handsome man with a pretty first-class beauty with brain wife going for this student… I am disappointed if indeed he stup so low to take advantage of a student

Brume Adogbeji (@BAdogbeji): To imagine this is happening in the highest institution of a country is disturbing and disgusting. Students engaging in jungle justice. Sick

name (@nameofus): But is there even any evidence that the lecturer attempted to harass her? A lecturer who insists that students can’t cheat is not students friends. Is it possible the latter could & they square him up in his office, strip him, drag him outside, record the video humiliating him?

#queen👑 of #memes🤣 (@EzekielQueen12): Them for comote hin prikq Men self Make Una do better na haba

Fortis (@Fortis1o): When institutions fail, jungle justice becomes inevitable. Don’t blame the jungle justice. Blame the failure of institutions that are supposed to handle concerns of social and economic injustice in society. Unfortunately the heads of key institutions in Nigeria are singing the “mandate” song.

Bamz (@Bamzi2Cleff): Them no de beat alleged person ooooo. Until court don give judgement ooo

Kingkosec (@Kingkosec): Where is the lie?

Vivian (@V1vy_L0ve): To think that this girl gave this lecturer a blow job at first thinking it was all and yet this man tried to rape her. Jeez

Zao The Quick Solution Ltd (@ZaoTheQuickSol): Thank God say the man head no knack ground as una dey try drag am down The case for turn for una head o

dd47🐼 (@deanofdawn47): Police wey suppose protect youth go dey harass them. Lecturers wey suppose lecture youth too go dey harass them. Who tf swore for Nigeria as a country ?

S.L.A.D.E (@Slade1_): But that’s not how to handle any man accused of Rape or sexual assault. What if they beat him to death nkọ? The mass beating no gel at all.

Controversial Sense (@Waris_Ayomide): If this story is true, it’s a clear abuse of power by a lecturer. Sexual exploitation of students is never acceptable. At the same time, stripping someone naked and beating them in public is still mob justice, dangerous and illegal, even when the person is accused of something serious. The university needs to investigate properly and handle it through the right channels instead of letting things escalate like this.

Foxy (@Foxyblueu): As disturbing as the alleged act is, mob justice cannot be the solution. When the rule of law breaks down, chaos follows everyone.

Nedu_🔥 (@Hhonor_): I endorse this…. If you know how these lecturers assault girls you’ll know he was treated fairly

S.A Makhachkala (@PaulScholes): Those students should be expelled with immediate effect

Aaré (@Aare_AlfLaposh): Some of these lecturers no dey learn sha

Mukarram👑 (@jareofla): This man can see my destiny and future
