The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), along with its presidential candidate from the February 25, 2023, election, Atiku Abubakar, is scheduled to hold a world press conference.

The press conference comes after the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal dismissed Atiku’s case and affirmed President Tinubu’s victory.

Reports have it that Atiku and his Labour Party counterpart, Peter Obi, rejected Wednesday’s judgment of the tribunal affirming the election of Tinubu.

Kehinde Edun, the Legal Adviser to the Labour Party, expressed to challenge the judgment at the Supreme Court.

Furthermore, Chris Uche, SAN, the lead counsel for Atiku, confirmed that he had been directed by his client to appeal with the Supreme Court.

He said “The judgment has been delivered but we have not received justice. Luckily, the law has given us leverage to go on appeal to the Supreme Court. We have instructions from our clients to go to the Supreme Court. The struggle continues.”

The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT), sitting at the Court of Appeal in Abuja, unanimously dismissed the petition filed by Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and their parties challenging the election of Bola Tinubu as president.

The panel of five members each had their chance to reject the petitions filed by Atiku and Obi contesting the declaration of Tinubu as the victor of the presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission on March 1, 2023.

The verdict was announced by the tribunal’s Chairman, Justice Haruna Tsammani, with support from fellow panel members, including Justices Stephen Adah, Monsurat Bolaji-Yusuf, Moses Ugo, and Abba Mohammed.

Expressing their discontent with the decision, former Vice President Atiku, along with the PDP’s Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagun, stated their intention to hold a global press conference to address this development.

The conference, scheduled to take place at the NEC Hall situated on the ground floor of the PDP National Headquarters, is set to commence at 2:30 p.m.

The invitation extended to journalists by the party’s National Director of Publicity stated, “Hello Gentlemen of the Press, good evening.

“This is to invite you to a press briefing to be addressed by the Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagun, and PDP Presidential Candidate, H.E. Atiku Abubakar, GCON.”
