The Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal invalidated Sen. Abubakar Ohere’s victory in the Kogi Central Senatorial election.
The court declared Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as the rightful winner of the February 2023 Kogi Central Senatorial election.
The chairman of the tribunal, Justice K. A. Orjiako, who read the unanimous judgment of the three-member panel, said that the results of Sen. Abubakar Ohere were inflated in nine polling units in Ajaokuta Local Government Area, while those of Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan were intentionally reduced in the same nine polling units by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He also said that the results of three other polling units were deliberately not entered for Akpoti-Uduaghan in the same local government area.
After making the necessary corrections, the court declared Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the election, with 54,074 votes, defeating Abubakar Ohere of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who received 51,291 votes.
