Troops dismantle illegal refineries, recover stolen oil

Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Division have dismantled 13 illegal bunkering sites and recovered over 300,000 litres of stolen petroleum products during joint operations between January  20 and  January 26, 2025.

Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, stated that the operations targeted several sites across Rivers, Edo, Delta, Akwa Ibom, and Bayelsa States.

In Rivers State’s Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA, three illegal refining sites were destroyed, while 1,500 litres of refined products were seized in Asari-Toru LGA. At Abacheke in ONELGA, four sites with 145 oven drums were deactivated, yielding 9,200 litres of stolen AGO.

Troops also intercepted a tanker truck in Delta State siphoning crude oil and discovered 252,000 litres of stolen crude in Edo State.

 

Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah commended the troops and warned saboteurs to cease illegal activities or face intensified action.
