Troops of Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have intercepted two pick-up vans transporting logistics believed to be meant for Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Borno State.

In a statement issued by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North East) Operation Hadin Kai in Maiduguri, Lt. Col. Sani Uba, the interception followed actionable intelligence that alerted the military to the movement of the supplies from Dapchi in Yobe State toward the Magumeri general area of Borno State.

The statement explained that troops, working in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), swiftly acted on the intelligence, deployed strategically, and successfully intercepted the vehicles along the identified route.

Recovered items from the operation include two civilian vehicles, 31 spare tyres, 23 spare rims, two bicycles, 12 ignition key starters, three alternators, two bags of flour, one mattress, five bags of charcoal, 34 tubers of yam, two blankets, two nylons of garri, assorted adult and children’s clothing, one power bank, six mobile phones, as well as cash in different denominations.

According to Lt. Col. Uba, the drivers transporting the items, along with the recovered materials, are currently in military custody for further questioning to establish the level of their involvement and to aid ongoing counter-terrorism investigations.

He added that troops of OPHK remain committed to denying terrorists freedom of movement, disrupting their supply networks, and ensuring the safety and security of law-abiding citizens across the North-East.
