Nigerian Army troops have killed seven armed bandits and seized four motorcycles during an operation in Baba, Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr Nasir Mu’azu, announced this on Friday while addressing journalists. He explained that the two-hour operation took place on Thursday after credible intelligence exposed the movements of criminals terrorising farming communities in the area.

According to Mu’azu, the soldiers engaged the bandits in a fierce battle, killing seven while the others fled with gunshot wounds. Troops also recovered four motorcycles used in the bandits’ operations.

“This success forms part of ongoing military operations across frontline local government areas, aimed at dismantling criminal hideouts and restoring peace to support farming activities during the rainy season,” he said.

The commissioner praised the courage and professionalism of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies, stressing that the Katsina State Government remains committed to supporting security forces with logistics, intelligence-sharing, and community collaborations.

He assured residents that every effort is being made to safeguard lives and livelihoods across the state. Mu’azu also urged rural communities to continue providing timely information to aid security operations, emphasising that “together, we will defeat these criminals and restore lasting peace to our state.”
