Troops from the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have apprehended a suspected Boko Haram terrorist in the Garba Chede community of Bali Local Government Area, Taraba State.

The suspect, Nura Yakubu, was arrested following credible intelligence. Investigations revealed that Yakubu, a food vendor, had been harboring Boko Haram terrorists deployed to Taraba for militant activities.

A statement from Captain Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director of 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, also linked Yakubu and his group to the kidnapping of a businessman, Arinze, and the son of Alhaji Ibrahim in the Garbatau community of Bali Local Government Area.

Following the kidnapping of a district head in the Jalingo Local Government Area on 27 November 2024 and his subsequent release after a ransom was paid, troops launched intensified intelligence operations.

These efforts led to the arrest of Musa Suito on 18 December 2024 in Jalingo metropolis.

Suito, a member of a vigilante group offering security services to wealthy individuals, had been using his position to collect information on potential kidnap targets. Recovered from him were one Dane gun and two cartridges.

The 6 Brigade Nigerian Army has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of lives and properties across Taraba State and beyond, calling for continued public support in achieving this goal.

”We urge members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to enhance the fight against criminal elements,” Oni said in the statement.
