Troops under the Joint Task Force (JTF) Operation Hadin Kai in the north-east have detained a man suspected of supplying logistics to terrorists, along with 21 alleged collaborators, in Mafa LGA of Borno state.

Zagazola Makama, a counter-terrorism publication, reported that the group was found transporting a substantial haul of smoked fish believed to be connected to insurgent funding.

The publication said the arrest took place around 3:30pm on Wednesday, carried out by soldiers of the 112 Task Force Battalion under the 24 Task Force Brigade stationed at Checkpoint 2 in Mafa.

The primary suspect, identified as 40-year-old Ibrahim Bukar, was nabbed alongside others while moving 59 cartons and 28 sacks of smoked fish in two Isuzu trucks.

A source told the publication that “Preliminary interrogation revealed that the smoked fish was handed over to them in Laje village by terrorists.”

The report also indicated that the suspect admitted to previously supplying different items to terrorists, and hybrid forces confirmed he once served them in the bush.

All arrested individuals, along with the recovered goods, are now in custody pending further investigation.
