Troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, have arrested two suspected kidnappers in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State during clearance operations under the codename Operation Lafiya Nakowa.

According to a military statement, the arrests followed a raid on a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in the Garau axis of Rafin Taba community on 19 September 2025. The operation, based on credible intelligence, led to the capture of Ibrahim Umaru and Adamu Malam Musa, both described as notorious for multiple abductions within and beyond Taraba State.

Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 6 Brigade, said preliminary interrogation revealed the pair confessed to several kidnappings and to collecting substantial ransom payments. They also admitted to moving some abductees into Plateau State’s notorious Madam Forest to evade security patrols.

Commending the troops’ vigilance and professionalism, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade, said the success reflected the Army’s resolve to rid Taraba and neighbouring states of criminal networks undermining peace and socio-economic development.

He assured residents that joint security operations would intensify until all criminal groups were dismantled. The Army further urged the public to support security forces with credible intelligence, while warning criminal elements to abandon their activities or face decisive military action.
