Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have dismantled several bandit hideouts and recovered vital logistics in Taraba State.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Brigade’s spokesman, Captain Olubodunde Oni, said the operation targeted a gathering reportedly convened by a notorious bandit leader, Liamdoo Douglas Adekpe, also known as Bajor.

Acting on credible intelligence, the troops launched the offensive on 5 July 2025, focusing on remote areas in the southern part of Wukari Local Government Area, which is believed to be a stronghold of Bajor’s criminal network.

Upon the troops’ arrival, the bandits fled, abandoning valuable items. The soldiers destroyed key hideouts used to coordinate attacks and store weapons.

They also recovered five operational motorcycles suspected to have been used for swift raids on nearby communities.

Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade and Sector 3 OPWS, said although Bajor and his associates narrowly escaped, troops are actively tracking their movements and remain on high alert.

He reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to eliminating all criminal threats to peace and security in Taraba and neighbouring states.

General Uwa urged residents to continue supporting military operations by providing timely and accurate information, adding that the army would maintain both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies to secure long-term peace in the region.
