Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI have killed several Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters during coordinated operations across communities in Borno State.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by Lt Col Sani Uba, spokesperson for the task force, detailing activities carried out between March 31 and April 4, 2026.
According to the statement, the operations led to the elimination of insurgents, arrest of suspects, and disruption of logistics networks supporting terrorist activities.
In one major operation, troops under Sector 2 in Geidam, working alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force, acted on intelligence to confront terrorist logistics suppliers. After an intense exchange, three suspects were killed and a vehicle carrying supplies was disabled. Items recovered included food, mobile phones and other materials meant for insurgent camps.
Troops also ambushed fighters attempting to plant Improvised Explosive Devices along the Konduga–Kawuri route. The encounter resulted in an explosion that killed two insurgents, while weapons and ammunition were recovered.
Further counter-IED efforts led to the discovery and safe detonation of an explosive device along the Ngoshe–Pulka road, preventing potential casualties and ensuring safer movement.
In Adamawa State, troops operating in Mubi North Local Government Area, in collaboration with local hunters, arrested three suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP members. Investigations revealed that one of the suspects had previously gathered intelligence on troop movements and operations.
The suspect also admitted involvement in a recent attack where the group reportedly suffered heavy losses. All arrested individuals remain in custody for further investigation.
Additional operations in Mainok market led to the arrest of three logistics suppliers, with livestock, mobile phones and cash recovered, further weakening the insurgents’ supply chain.
Troops also intercepted a vehicle in Yobe State conveying suspected terrorist members, two of whom had gunshot injuries linked to earlier clashes. They were taken into custody along with communication devices.
Other operations resulted in the arrest of informants and collaborators attempting to move across neighbouring areas, as well as a foreign national apprehended at a checkpoint under suspicious circumstances.
The military high command commended the troops for their dedication and professionalism, urging them to sustain the momentum in ongoing operations aimed at securing the North East.
