Troops thwarts multiple kidnap attempts, kill terrorists, reunite victims with families

Troops of the Nigerian Army deployed for Counter-terrorism operations in the North East and North West on Tuesday 7 May 2024 in a display of valour successfully foiled multiple kidnap attempts, neutralizing the terrorists’ threats and reuniting victims with their families.

In Borno State, acting on reliable intelligence, the troops engaged ISWAP militants in Kulukawiya Village, situated in the Nganzai Local Government Area. This confrontation led to the elimination of one terrorist and the capture of a loaded AK-47 rifle. During a subsequent chase, the soldiers rescued a child who had been kidnapped by the fleeing militants. The child was subsequently reunited with his father, Alhaji Musa.

In a separate incident in Kaduna State, the army responded swiftly to a distress call from Agunu Dutse Village in the Kachia Local Government Area, where residents were under attack by terrorists. The troops promptly conducted a search and rescue operation that resulted in the liberation of six hostages, including two women and four children, all of whom were unharmed and later reunited with their families.

Additionally, while on a patrol in Amale village in Kaduna North Local Government Area, troops were informed of terrorists in the vicinity. Working alongside local vigilantes, the troops engaged the terrorists, forcing them to flee and leave behind their weapons. The army recovered one AK-47 rifle, a homemade gun, and a machete.
