The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority announced on Saturday that it discovered two bodies beneath an empty diesel truck at the Barracks Bus Stop on the Lagos-Badagry expressway.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by LASTMA’s Public Relations Officer, Adebayo Taofiq, the accident occurred at the same site where a soldier was arrested by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for breaking traffic laws.
Taofiq stated that the two bodies discovered were riders on a motorbike travelling in a ‘one-way’ direction.
He went on to say that the motorbike rider died in a hospital near Satellite Town, while the other two passengers died on the scene.
The truck driver was said to have lost control of his vehicle due to a burst tire, causing him to crash into a motorcycle that was traveling in one direction along the expressway.
Following the collision, the truck driver fled, but the two dead bodies were removed by policemen from the Onireke police division.
However, the acting General Manager of LASTMA, Bakare Oki, cautioned truck drivers to avoid speeding and also urged motorcycle riders to refrain from riding on all state-wide restricted routes in a single direction.
