Trump’s election fraud trial to be livestreamed
A judge has ordered that Donald Trump’s trial in Georgia on charges of election fraud will be livestreamed and televised. According to reports, all of the hearings will be available live on the Fulton County Court’s YouTube channel.
Although proceedings in Fulton County courts are typically live-streamed, Trump’s trial in the county will be the only one of his four trials to be televised. It could be one of the most-watched trials in recent years.
The trial date has not yet been set, but it is possible that it could take place next year when Trump is running for re-election.
The ex-president and 18 others are accused of plotting to reverse the state’s 2020 presidential election outcome. He is also facing three other criminal trials.
Prosecutors allege that he pressured Georgia officials to reverse the results of the election in the state, which he lost to Democrat Joe Biden.
Central to the prosecution’s case is a phone call he made to the state’s secretary of state to “recalculate” the vote tally.
Trump, last week turned himself into the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, Georgia, and had his mugshot taken. He has waived his right to appear in court next Wednesday for his arraignment, a short hearing at which the plea is officially entered in court.
