According to reports, Twitter users who have the verification badge would have to pay a $20 monthly fee under Elon Musk’s new ownership.
Musk intends to introduce a pay-for-play verification system in which verified users are required to pay $20 per month, according to a Daily Mail article.
The microblogging company’s engineers have until November 7 to implement the plan or risk being let go.
On October 30, the project was announced to the workforce.
It is stated that the verification’s cost is liable to fluctuate.
Hours before the report emerged, Musk tweeted: “The whole verification process is being revamped right now.”
