Operatives of the Katsina State Police Command have reportedly rescued at least 10 victims from kidnappers.

However, four of the rescued individuals sustained gunshot wounds during the bandits’ attack and were immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment. Tragically, two of them succumbed to their injuries while receiving medical care.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Police Spokesman ASP Abubakar Sadiq confirmed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects as investigations continue.

He recounted that on December 24, 2024, at around 8:30 PM, suspected bandits armed with dangerous weapons ambushed a commercial vehicle at Kwanar Makera along the Katsina-Magama Jibia road in Jibia LGA, attempting to abduct its 10 occupants.

Upon receiving a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer of Jibia led a team of operatives to the scene, engaged the bandits in a gun battle, and successfully foiled the abduction, rescuing all 10 victims.

The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, commended the officers for their bravery and dedication, urging them to maintain their commitment to duty.

He also called on members of the public to provide useful information about suspected criminal activities to the nearest police station for swift and decisive action.
