Two Ekiti men arraigned for alleged theft of N232,000 diesel

The Ekiti State Police Commander has said it arraigned two persons, Azees Agbaye (33) and Alaba Oke (45), before the Chief Magistrate Court, Ado Ekiti District, over alleged conspiracy and stealing.

Celeb Leramo, a police prosecutor, testified in court on Thursday that the defendants committed the alleged act on November 15, about 10:10 a.m., at a telecom mast, EK10053C Olat area Adebayo in Ado Ekiti.

Leramo concluded that “the defendants did conspire together to commit felony to wit, stealing.”

He went on to say that the defendants, “On the same date, time and place, did steal 94 litres of diesel oil valued at N232,000, property of Pyramid Risk Management Consult.”

The prosecutor added that the defendants also “on November 11, at about 2.30a.m in the same place, did steal cable wire valued at N45,000, from the same company.

“The offence committed is contrary to and punishable under Section 421, 295, 302 (1)(A) of the Criminal  Law Vol. 1, Law of the Ekiti State of Nigeria 2021.”

Counsel for the defendants, A. V. Ogunjobi, urged the court to grant his clients bail, promising to provide credible sureties, saying they would not jump bail.

In his response, the Chief Magistrate, Mr Saka Afunso, granted the defendants bail of N25,000 with one surety each and adjourned the case till December 4, for hearing.
