Two killed as car crash in Jigawa

Two people have died following a car accident on the Kiyawa-Jahun route in Jigawa State.

This was announced in a statement released on Friday by Adamu Shehu, Public Relations Officer for the Jigawa Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps.

Shehu claims that the incident involved a grey Toyota bus carrying passengers to Maiduguri, Borno State, with the license plate MGM435XA.

He continued by saying that a man and a female passenger were killed in the collision that happened on Kiyawa-Jahun Road.

“On Thursday, 6th of October, 2022, at about 0600hrs, the accident occurred around Katika village when the driver lost control of the vehicle as a result of overspeeding, thereby colliding with a tree by the roadside,” he said.

According to the NSCDC Spokesman, the accident victims were immediately evacuated and rushed to a Primary Health Care Center in Kiyawa LGA.

“Sadly, two were certified dead while others, including the bus driver, sustained various degrees of injuries and were referred to Federal Medical Centre Azare, in Bauchi State,” he revealed.

He identified the names of the deceased as Muhammad Atiku, 27; and Cecilia Peter, 21.

Shehu added, “Saddened by the incident, the command enjoined motoring public to always drive with caution, avoid overspeeding and other road traffic violations.”
