Two individuals have lost their lives following an explosion from an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at a housing estate under construction in Dalwa, Borno State.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred at approximately 1pm on Wednesday, coinciding with the commissioning of housing estates in Maiduguri by the Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, and his Yobe State counterpart, Mai Mala Buni.
A source informed media that a similar explosion took place on Tuesday, although details regarding that incident remain unclear.
Dalwa, situated 175 kilometres from Maiduguri, is among the many communities devastated and displaced by Boko Haram insurgents.
Governor Zulum has undertaken the reconstruction of the Dalwa community, including the construction of 200 houses, as part of efforts to restore normalcy and provide shelter for displaced residents.
