Two people were killed in a truck accident on the Lagos-Ibadan

Two people have been confirmed killed in a single truck collision on the Lagos-Ibadan Motorway near Kara.

The tragedy happened at 8 p.m. on Wednesday while the truck was transporting tubers of yam into Ogun State.

It was discovered that the driver was travelling at high speeds when he lost control of the vehicle and smashed into a concrete barricade beside the route.

The vehicle overturned, and the yam tubers spilled into a ditch alongside the road.

Two of the four males sitting on top of the yams also fell and were killed instantaneously when the truck collided with one of them.

Some hoodlums however rushed to the scene of the incident to guard the yams. They also mounted a roadblock which later resulted in heavy gridlock along the axis as motorists spent hours trying to navigate the route.
The Ogun State Commandant of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ahmad Umar, confirmed the incident.
He attributed it to speed limit violations, brake failure and loss of control.
He said the vehicle has been towed away from the road and MTD Isheri police station has taken custody of the crashed vehicle as well as the corpses.
