The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, has brought two commercial motorcyclists before an Akure Magistrates’ Court for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl.

The defendants, Tope Ademeso and Igbekele Akinsioye, were charged with conspiracy and rape. Prosecuting counsel, O.F. Akeredolu, informed the court that the incident happened on August 6, 2025, around 10:00 p.m. at the defendants’ residence on Continental Street, Akure. He alleged that the two men conspired to unlawfully have sexual intercourse with the teenager.

According to the charge sheet, the offences violate Section 516 of the Ondo State Criminal Code Law, 2006, as well as Sections 3 (1) and 3 (2)(c) of the Ondo State Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law, 2021.

Akeredolu further urged the court to remand the defendants in a correctional facility while awaiting legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

However, defence counsel, Godwin Bernard, argued that the case stemmed from a payment dispute after consensual intercourse, insisting that the defendants did not commit the alleged crime.

He urged the court to grant bail under lenient conditions.

Magistrate DamilolaSekoni adjourned the case to September 1 for ruling on the bail application and ordered that the defendants be remanded at Olokuta Correctional Facility.
