UN Nigeria Spokesperson, Dr. Soremekun loses Mum

Dr. Oluseyi Soremekun, the United Nations (Nigeria) spokesperson on Saturday lost his 86-year-old mother, Chief Mrs Marian Olabisi Soremekun.

According to a statement released on Sunday by Dr. Soremekun on behalf of the family and obtained by Newsclickng.com, the Mrs Soremekun died on Saturday after a brief illness.

She is survived by her husband Evangelist Adebayo Soremekun and her six children: Mrs Oluranti Afuape; Dr. Oluseyi Soremekun; Pastor (Mrs) Atinuke Bankole; Mrs Modupe Dauda ; Pastor Olufemi Soremekun and Motunrayo Soremekun; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A devoted Christian who served and loved God till the end, Madam Soremekun was a member of “Ina Olorun tan” Society at All Saints’ Anglican Parish Church, Kemta Kobiti Abeokuta.

She was also the Bada Iyalode of the Association of Tailors and Fashion designers of Ogun State; and the Balogun Egbe of the Isale-Ijeun, Iporo Sodeke and Odo-Oyo branch of the association.

Burial arrangements will be announced by the family.
