Students at the University of Jos in Plateau State blocked roads leading to campus on Tuesday in protest over an increase in school fees and other services provided by the institution.
The student demonstrators, who were mobilised by leaders of the institution’s Students Union Government, demanded an immediate reversal of the increase in school fees and other services provided by the University.
Armed with signs that said, among other things, “If your children can afford the money, we can’t,” and “We don’t want to drop out of school.”
The students said Nigerians were already going through a lot of hardship, hence the need for the authorities not to complicate the already bad situation with further fee increments.
