UNILAG applicant tops 2026 UTME ranking

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has unveiled the highest scorers in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), with a candidate seeking admission into the University of Lagos (UNILAG) emerging top of the list.

Speaking at the 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions to Tertiary Institutions held in Abuja on Monday, JAMB disclosed that Ekiti-born Owoeye Jesudunsin recorded the highest score in the examination.

Jesudunsin, who sat the UTME in Ogun State, scored 372 out of 400 marks to emerge as the best-performing candidate nationwide.

JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, said Jesudunsin selected University of Lagos as her first-choice institution and applied to study medicine and surgery.

Her score fell three marks short of the 375 recorded by the highest scorer in the 2025 UTME, Anambra-born Chinedu Okeke.

Coming second in the 2026 ranking was Imo-born Ikenna Enwere, who scored 370 marks. He applied to study computer science at Nile University.

Ayomide Bamisile from Ondo State placed third with 369 marks. He chose software engineering at Federal University of Technology, Akure as his preferred course of study.
