The United States, US government has told its citizens in Nigeria to stay away from major hotels in the country.

The United States has emphasized the heightened risks affecting prominent hotels in Nigeria’s urban centers.

This warning was issued in an emergency notice for American citizens dated November 3.

It strongly advised US citizens to exercise caution when staying at major hotels, maintain situational awareness, adopt a discreet profile, and consult Nigeria’s travel advisory before making hotel reservations.

The notice reads, “The US Government is aware of credible information that there is an elevated threat to major hotels in Nigeria’s larger cities.”

The advisory stated that Nigerian security agencies are actively addressing the threat.

“The Nigerian security services are working diligently to counter the threat,” it stated.

The notice also included contact details, including addresses and phone numbers, for the US embassy in Abuja and consulate in Lagos, which can be used by US citizens in need of assistance.
