The Presidency has demanded that social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), be prosecuted over the spread of an alleged fake audio recording linked to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, made the demand in a post on X on Wednesday, where he accused the influencer of circulating false content online.

“This VDM needs to face the weight of the law for being the conveyor and disseminator of a fake audio of President Tinubu.

“This is a clear case of an egregious abuse of the social media platform,” Onanuga wrote.

He was responding to an X user, Aneex, who had raised concerns about why some individuals believed the voice in the viral clip actually belonged to President Tinubu.

In the circulating video, VDM reportedly relied on the alleged leaked audio to caution Nigerians against supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
