The veteran Yoruba actor, Yinka Quadri, has celebrated the birth of his grandchild.

The movie icon announced the good news on Instagram, where he shared photos and videos featuring himself, his daughter Juwon, and his newborn granddaughter.

He described the occasion as “double celebrations,” noting that the baby’s arrival coincided with the premiere of his new movie on his YouTube channel.

“Double celebrations. My joy is full and my good news is making me happy. Joy is overflowing,” he wrote.

“‘Orukawura’ will be showing today via YINKA QUADRI TV on YouTube from 2pm. Also, my daughter Juwon gave birth to a bouncing baby girl today. A joyful moment.”

Quadri began his acting journey in 1976 after teaming up with Taiwo Olayinka and a few friends to form a theatre troupe called the Afopina Theatre Group, following his decision to leave school.

He made his television debut in the series Agbodorogun and has since appeared in numerous films such as Gangs of Lagos, Move Like a Boss, Okinni, The Return of Jenifa, Owo Blow, and 77 Bullets.

Over the decades, Quadri has established himself as one of the most respected figures in the Nigerian film industry.

In 2024, he shared how false rumours of his death caused significant “stress and anxiety” for his children abroad and other members of his family.
