Residents in Lagos State’s Iju Ishaga area were greeted with an explosion. Speaking about the situation, Margaret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, said firefighters had been dispatched to Agbado Road, Toyin Bus Stop in Lagos’ Iju Ishaga area.
Preliminary reports suggest that the fire which was reported at 22:04hrs Tuesday was a result of a gas tanker that accidentally caught fire and was accompanied by an explosion that has been confined to the tanker and adjoining row of shops.
Passersby made concerted efforts to forestall further spread to a nearby Kerosene Petroleum Filling Station.
The agency reassured the public of their safety and admonished them to steer clear from the scene while naked flames should be avoided for now within the vicinity.
