A delighted father has shared his joy online after his daughter, currently serving in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), honoured him with her first allowance.
The Nigerian father, identified as Arogundade Adewale, celebrated the heartfelt gesture on social media after his daughter presented him with her initial NYSC earnings.
In a video uploaded on his TikTok page, #ArogundadeAdewale, on Tuesday, the corps member, clad in her NYSC attire, was seen kneeling as she handed over the money to her father.
Captioning the video, he wrote, “My daughter brought her first NYSC salary to me,” and added in Yoruba, “Ounje omo ni,” which loosely translates to “This is the fruit of my labour.”
As part of the symbolic act, the father took N7,000 from the total sum and returned the remaining balance to his daughter.
He offered prayers for her and expressed hope that he would continue to reap the fruit of his labour.
In 2024, reports stated that Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo had encouraged Nigerians to give their first salary to their fathers for blessings instead of taking it to religious institutions.
