Popular Lagos-based socialite, Farida Sobowale was on Thursday prevented from jumping into the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.

In a now-viral video, Sobowale, who is the founder of House of Phreeda, the skincare company, packed her Lexus SUV on the bridge, alighted, and was about to jump into the lagoon when some persons rescued her.

Clad in a black outfit, the entrepreneur could be seen in tears while screaming that she should be allowed to jump into the lagoon.

In another clip, Sobowale sat behind the booth of the SUV as commuters were seen consoling her.

The businesswoman was said to have been taken to a police station afterward.

In one of the background voices, a passerby said he saw Sobowale jump out of her car and was moving towards the railings on the bridge.

Some unconfirmed reports claimed that Sobowale is having issues in her marriage.

Why I wanted to end it all

Explaining her action in an audio that has also gone viral, Farida Sobowale blamed it on love.

Sobowale said her N100 million marriage with another Lagos socialite, Demola Okulaja, crashed after two months.

Farida Sobowale said: “Friends and families warned me not to go into the marriage. They told me that the man only wanted my money but I was recalcitrant.

“It was love that pushed me into this. He told me that he was going to be with me, make me have children for him.

“I am so sorry for putting my children in such a position. I would not have forgiven myself if I had abandoned them after committing suicide.

“I have forgiven my ex-husband. May God provide him with another wife,” she added.

Farida Sobowale and her estranged husband had been revealing shocking family secrets on social media and calling each other names.
