In Lagos State, a dispatch rider was nabbed with a baby discovered in his delivery box.
The event occurred in Lagos, Sangotedo Area, where a mob converged around the yet-to-be identified rider.
The rider was beaten by a mob as he was dragged to a police station, according to a video uploaded on Twitter.
One of the persons in the background was heard saying, “This is the child that was abducted.”
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Lagos PPRO, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, said, “The command wishes to inform the public that the incident said to have taken place in Sangotedo area, Lekki, was not reported at any police station to enable the police take appropriate actions.
“Notwithstanding that the incident was not reported, the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, has directed that efforts should be intensified to locate the whereabouts of the alleged dispatch rider and the parents or guardians of the child to enable the police to investigate the incident.”
The circumstances underlying the child’s confinement in the box were unknown at the time of writing this report.
The Sangotedo axis, which includes Ajah, Abijo, and Lekki, is one of Lagos’ most notorious neighborhoods.
The news comes as a result of the outcry surrounding the death of a 22-year-old fashion designer who went missing after riding a BRT in the region.
