Numerous fatalities have been reported in an airstrike, purportedly conducted by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), at Tudun Biri village in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The incident reportedly occurred around 9 pm on Sunday during a Maulud celebration, where villagers had gathered.

While the Air Force is yet to confirm the attack, a community source informed our correspondent that the villagers were mistakenly bombed in the airstrike. The intended targets were believed to be bandits allegedly migrating from neighboring Zamfara State to seek refuge in Tudun Biri village.

The source added that the incident has instilled panic in the area, prompting many residents to flee to neighboring villages due to the fear of additional bomb attacks.

In response to the incident, the Kaduna State government has called for an emergency security meeting.

Chaired by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, the meeting is currently underway and includes key figures such as the Air Officer Commanding Air Training Command of the Nigerian Air Force.

Other attendees comprise the Garrison Commander of the One Mechanized Division of the Nigerian Army, the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, and Samuel Aruwan, overseeing the Kaduna State Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs.
