Vice President Kashim Shettima is presiding over the 147th National Economic Council (NEC) meeting at the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja.

The meeting is attended by governors, some deputy governors from the 36 states, as well as ministers, agency heads, and presidential aides.

During its previous meeting, held three weeks ago, NEC had directed three states and the Federal Capital Territory to submit reports within one week on the establishment of state police.

The council also raised concerns about the new Tax Reform Bills and urged President Bola Tinubu to withdraw them for broader consultations.

The current meeting is expected to review the submitted reports on state police and outline its position on the matter.
