The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) announced on Sunday that the Warri–Itakpe Train Service (WITS) will resume operations on Wednesday, 29 October 2025.

The NRC’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Callistus Unyimadu, disclosed this in a statement issued weeks after the corporation suspended train operations along the route.

According to the corporation, the temporary suspension allowed engineers to carry out essential repairs, system checks, and maintenance on the tracks and rolling stock to improve passenger safety and service reliability.

“The temporary suspension enabled us to conduct critical repairs, maintenance, and system checks on the tracks and rolling stock to ensure the comfort, reliability, and safety of our passengers,” the statement read.

Unyimadu stated that the resumption reflects the NRC’s commitment to providing safe and efficient train services while upholding the highest operational standards.

He further announced that the online booking portal will reopen at 12 noon on Monday, 27 October 2025, ahead of the service resumption. Passengers are encouraged to book their tickets via https://nrc-fane.ng or at designated stations.

While apologising to travellers and stakeholders for the inconvenience caused by the suspension, Unyimadu expressed appreciation for the public’s patience and understanding during the maintenance period.

“The Corporation sincerely apologises to its valued passengers and stakeholders for the inconveniences experienced during the suspension and appreciates their patience and understanding,” the statement added.
